The Hungarian Energy Brigades started their work in 1998.

Hungary is one of the frontline countries in Central Europe to enter the European Union. The energy sector was heavily reorganized in the mid-90s. As a result, energy saving really pays nowadays in a comparable way as in Western Europe and North America.

Although energy efficiency as a central idea is well known in Hungary, still little people, organizations and institutions implement energy saving technology.

The Hungarian Energy Brigades show models in which a lot of energy can be saved with simple technical means. It focuses on low-income groups in society.

For these groups, the financial savings gained with the energy brigades really makes a difference.

Secondary result is that the involved authorities, parents and inhabitants are increasingly aware of sustainable energy use.
