The Georgian Energy Brigades started their work in 1998.

Georgia - one of the newly independent states in the Caucasus region - suffers currently under a large economic crisis. Fuel prices are for many Georgians almost unaffordable. Therefore, the Georgian Energy Brigades do not as much focus on saving energy with their projects, but on increasing the level of comfort within the limited resources available. For orphans, schoolchildren, monks and ordinary households, this may mean a difference in room temperature from 14° C to 19° C - from suffering to living.

Secondary result is that the involved authorities, parents and inhabitants are increasingly aware of sustainable energy use.
